Tarik Muharemović enjoyed a memorable first home outing in a Leeds United shirt as Daniel Farke’s side secured a convincing 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig at Elland Road.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international was one of the standout performers on an afternoon that gave Leeds supporters another encouraging look at their new defender.

Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha decided the friendly, which was played over two 60-minute halves, but Muharemović’s composed display at the back was among the major positives for the hosts.

Muharemović looks comfortable at Elland Road

Playing in front of the home crowd for the first time, Muharemović showed confidence in possession, calm decision-making and strong defensive awareness throughout his time on the pitch.

He looked increasingly settled alongside his new teammates and handled Leipzig’s attacking threat with maturity, helping Leeds maintain control for long periods of the game.

His performance also earned praise in post-match player ratings, with the Bosnian defender named among Leeds United’s most impressive players alongside Sean Longstaff.

Leeds make the perfect start

Leeds took the lead early in the game after Joe Rodon advanced down the right and delivered a dangerous cross into the box. Dominic Calvert-Lewin met it first time and found the net to give the hosts a deserved advantage.

Daniel James, Calvert-Lewin and Harry Wilson all had further opportunities before the end of the opening 60-minute period as Leeds continued to create the better chances.

Nmecha seals the win

Daniel Farke made several changes after the break, but Leeds remained disciplined and difficult to break down.

Brenden Aaronson went close after finding himself through on goal, before Lukas Nmecha eventually doubled the advantage with a composed finish from close range following Wilfried Gnonto’s pull-back.

The 2-0 result capped a strong team performance, but for Muharemović the afternoon carried added significance.

A clean sheet, a victory and an impressive display in his first appearance at Elland Road made it an ideal introduction to the Leeds home crowd.
